A deeper look into the styles taught at Vive:
Hatha Yoga is perfect for all levels of experience. The focus of this class is prefect alignment with the body as well as the breath. Classical-Eclectic Hatha is a mixed form of hatha yoga. The term Hatha indicates that this type of yoga involves asana practice (poses). Classical indicates that the poses practiced are time honored. Typical indicates poses are taught in more than one hatha style. And eclectic indicates that the style is blended. In other words, it does not follow one strict method or consistent routine of postures.
Vinyasa Flow is Suitable for all levels. This is an invigorating full-body flow where you’ll explore the yoga postures and fundamental principles of Vinyasa yoga. This is a foundation-building yoga class that will work every muscle through movement and breath at a moderate, but intuitive pace.
Power Yoga is suitable for all levels. However those new to yoga should start with Vinyasa Flow or Hatha. This 60-minute class is a strong, fast-paced class designed to build heat and strength. This practice is a total body workout. It creates longer, leaner muscles and a body with more mobility to improve circulation. We recommend that students seeking to take these classes feel confident, safe, and strong throughout classic sun salutation.
Our Core Yoga class is a fast-paced flow that incorporates breath, strength, flexibility and endurance. This class is a similar pace to our Power class, with more focus on poses that target the core muscles.
Yin Yoga consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body. (Hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine). These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. Poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.
Restorative Yoga is simply that, restorative. This class focuses on centering the breath and aligning the physical and mental body by practicing stillness or gentle movements. Props including blankets, bolsters and sandbags assist in helping individuals hold poses for longer periods.
